Weds. Signal: Get Me a Mobile Strategy or You're Fired!
Sure, you can now buy banners across ad networks in mobile, and lord knows that ability has paid off handsomely for AdMob and Quattro (acquired by Google and Apple, respectively, for very large multiples of very small revenues), but honestly, we all know that's not an endgame. Microsoft's Search Numbers Keep Going Up (Paid Content) Bing gains, Yahoo! (Cross Posted to the FM Blog , where Signal will have a permanent home soon)

Are Privacy and Social Networking Incompatible?
The privacy furor stirred up over the past couple of weeks by the launch of Google’s social tool, Buzz, caused the search giant to make some fairly radical changes to the service . It also threw the issue of privacy in social networking into sharp relief. However, Google’s stumble in this space is just the latest in a long line of privacy flubs from nearly all of the In my latest Long View over on GigaOM Pro (sub. req.), “ Can Enterprise Privacy Survive Social Networking? ,” I ponder whether social networking and privacy are fundamentally incompatible,

Social search, Help engines, and Sense-making
Social search is resurfacing as a hot topic of late , due to how effective Twitter has become in helping you find information, and how it is close to how we source information in the offline world (via our network). by connecting you to a social network of people you trust who will be willing to help out in a reciprocal relationship
(which which Twitter is being differentiated by being called a “ Help Engine “.
I think it’s getting us closer to the KM productivity (sense-making) aim that knowledge sharing and knowledge transfer has always aspired to,

Search
This post likely will be quite a bit different because I'm convinced that most people have used different search tools enough that they are pretty comfortable with their current search behaviors. My intent here is to possibly expand the options for the average knowledge worker to be able to search a bit better than they do today. This is by no means comprehensive This is likely my last post in the Tool Set series. Yes, I personally use Google 95%+ for searching.

iSearch a Better Way to Find People Online
New addition to the people search engine scene iSearch is a powerful tool for hunting down anyone online that offers better results than plain old Google in some cases. Search by name and location, screen name, phone number, school or company, and iSearch returns results from social networks as well as regular old web pages. My test searches for my co-bloggers were very detailed, and displayed As with most people search engines, folks who don't have as much of an online presence don't show up as much (or just have multiple results from the same old company or school web page).

Sensemaking, PKM and networks
In a past post I elaborated on social networks like Twitter as being a Help engine; an alternative to a search engine in some cases in finding answers and making decisions.
by connecting you to a social network of people you trust who will be willing to help out in a reciprocal relationship
(which which also helps out in the re-contextualising process as you share a common wavelength I also paralleled this concept to the aims of KM, productivity, performance, sense-making, decision-making, etc:

Master the Google Operands - Search Like a God & Save Time May. 30th, 2008 By Tina The internet, a network spanning the globe. Does that put Google’s name choice into perspective? How relevant are communities of practice in a network age?
A while back I blogged about the possibility of networks and blogospheres cutting into the need for communities. Just look at Friendfeed, it’s a network, but you can also join rooms (member groups); some are feedback rooms, news rooms, topic rooms…people still like hanging out in a place (pub/coffee shop) and contributing to the pool of info in one spot, rather than scattered in a social network. If I have a question about Friendfeed functionality I I believe this is happening a great deal, as now people may have a more purposeful or ideal way of achieving their needs

Google Latitude
Over and over, I've written about new interfaces to search. Google's recent introduction of Latitude gets us closer. First, the big type on Google's site says this: "See where your friends are on a map." Yes, it sure is - for Google, which wants to build a big database of mobile numbers for, oh, about a million different reasons.
Third, A few snippets and thoughts:
