3 Places to Discover New and Relevant Content
Web workers are a busy group, and it can be too easy to get buried in our work while rarely surfacing to keep up with the latest news, trends and other information that we should be learning. While I love my RSS reader and check it frequently, RSS readers have limitations. They are best for keeping up with information that you have added to your reader because you know you want to read it.

There’s always a bewildering maze of terms and trends in the technology world: like the entertainment industry, the million dollar question is which ones will wind up meaning anything, which will be one hit wonders and which ones will stick and sustain. For many people of course the whole idea of fashion is anathema, and

The power of personal brands in strategy and attracting talent
This is a long-term secular trend - in fact last week when I spoke at the Online Marketing by Design event I pointed to it as one of the three most important trends for this year. Trend map for 2010 and out to 2050
For the last few years Richard Watson of NowandNext has created annual trend maps based on city subway maps. For the previous three trend maps (shown at the bottom) I collaborated with Richard and we co-branded them with Future Exploration Network, however time pressures this year meant that I haven't directly contributed to the 2010 map. It is still as rich and glorious as ever - spend some time delving into the trends ahead!
This year he has been more ambitious, creating a highly detailed map with five time zones, ranging from 2010-2015 out to 2035-2050.

Follow Twitter Trends With Connect the Tweets
Connect the Tweets collects the top trending items on Twitter and attempts to put them into perspective and context. What is this and why is it trending? While Twitter’s own search also presents the top trends, I appreciate that the way that Connect the Tweets turns this discovery process into an effortless one for me.
How do you follow Twitter trend When I explain Twitter to the uninitiated, I tend to describe it as my virtual water cooler. It helps me keep a finger on what is happening outside of my office by letting me listen in on what others are saying.

Telecommuting Trends
This month’s Economist, in an article called Home warriors , explores some fascinating issues around the implications of telecommuting and its implications on energy, policy and employment…not simply the availability of connectivity and email.
The writer argues that though technology and infrastructure has long been available, only now are the economic and commercial drivers unfolding that’s making teleworking an attractive default position for many employers, not just employees.
