Sense-making
basic tool I’ve described for PKM is social bookmarking to file information. The term personal knowledge management (PKM) isn’t about management in a business sense but rather how we can manage to make sense of information and experience in our electronic surround.
Personal – according to one’s abilities, interests & motivation (not directed by external forces).

Replace Your Browser Bookmarks With iCyte
Browser bookmarks left my online research workflow some time ago when I began to use Delicious, with occasional forays into using Xmarks . It’s a new social bookmarking tool that enables you to capture Cytes (web pages) for later reference.
Personally, I find some bookmarking tools’ tagging and organizing interfaces overly complex. The bulk of my research happens online, so I am always on the lookout for tools that will help me better capture, catalog and retrieve data. Lately, I’ve depended on Evernote ’s web clipping tools.

Social Bookmarking – Diigo
Social bookmarking is one of the most useful aspects of the web. Although I’ve been using some form of social bookmarking for years, every so often I want to review what I can do with the social bookmarking tools I use.
Currently I use Diigo and del.icio.us .
You can use it to create your own online library, organized to your own interests by using tags. One of the useful aspects of webapps is that many give you notice when an upgrade is available, and then, when you install it, open a page explaining all the changes.

Social Bookmarking in the Enterprise at MITRE
Social Bookmarking in the Enterprise , a talk by Laurie Damianos of MITRE ( an interview with her at CMU ). Why social bookmarking in the enterprise? And there are a lot of internal/secure references that MITRE didn't want people publicly bookmarking (on del.icio.us). The Boston KM Forum topic this evening was Tag Me! Going into the talk, the most interesting thing to me is Laurie's title: she's a Lead Artificial Intelligence Engineer - Can I get that job?

2.0 or and bust
One great example of what can happen when you trust a company too much is Ma.gnolia, which was a very popular social bookmarking company that had a catastrophic server failure in January and lost everyone’s data. While they tried to restore the database, they failed, and now they’re going to start from scratch (though I can’t imagine who would trust them with their bookmarks now!). Since before my brain was hijacked by baby stuff, I’ve been thinking a lot about how many third party Web 2.0 vendors libraries are dependent upon (not to mention all the

Visualization: Social bookmarking in the enterprise
In our Implementing Enterprise 2.0 report, we created visual representations to help explain how the most important social media tools can be applied inside organizations.
The diagram below was used in the chapter on social bookmarking, which was designed to accompany the detailed coverage in the report, but it is hopefully fairly self-explanatory!

Implementing Social Bookmarking at Océ
For this post I spoke with Samuel and Peter Kruizinga about their social bookmarking experiences.
Peter and a colleague set up the social bookmarking application in the Research and Development department using an Open Source tool. Peter wanted a better way to share important links connected with their research so he set up the social bookmarking application. This is the fifth in a series of interviews with Samuel Driessen , Information Architect at Océ , about their Enterprise 2.0 implementation and adoption experiences.

Roundup: Create Collections of Useful Things to Share Online
One of the great features of social networking is how easy it is to share information with large groups of people. You can email it, share the bundle’s URL on a social network or create a “bundle clip,” which is like a widget you can embed on your web site. The social bookmarking service Delicious offers a quick and easy way to share a collections of web sites, similar to the Google bundle method, except that this collection can contain links In this post, I’m going to share some ways that you can create bundles or collections of useful stuff that you can share with others, which can save you and your organization a great deal of time and effort.

New Features Make Sharein Even More Efficient
Sharein , the link sharing service, has responded to bookmarking web app Delicious’ new link sharing features by unleashing a raft of new functionality. Interestingly enough, much of this new functionality involves bookmarking, which is Delicious’ bread and butter. There is now a “My Bookmarks” tab. I guess you could say that is fair play, since link sharing is Sharein’s primary reason for being.
