PWLE Not PLE - Knowledge Work Not Separate from Learning
Flexibility and extensibility Web browser platform Aggregation/Mashups Ease of use Several thoughts jumped out at me: The concept of a Personal Learning Environment (PLE) exists, but actual PLEs only exist as theoretical combinations of skills, methods and tools. But, too much structure is not going to work. But that's the exception.

It's easy to list a set of tools. Jane Hart has done a great job collecting individual answers to what learning tools and technologies that people use. But probably most important are the mental models or frameworks that people use to understand what they need and turn it into methods and tools. More important are the methods.

Using SharePoint
Using SharePoint as Project System for Training Organization Quite a few people talked about how they were using SharePoint as a collaborative tool to work on projects. I've been having fabulous conversations about using SharePoint. In my post SharePoint Examples there are some great examples in the comments. Some used it to track bugs.

Informal Learning Technology
When I look at this from more the PWLE ( Personal WORK and learning environment ) perspective, I find that there are similar functions, but possibly a different mind set. Looking back at my Tool Set series at the start of this year, there were very similar kinds of capabilities being described. It's definitely worth a read.

While it talks in terms of SharePoint, really the patterns described relate to all different types of tools. search tool other than Google that I use, when and why. As work continually moves towards concept work demand for publishing will decrease and enabling tools, providing support and providing skills training will increase.
