Taking a Closer Look with 1DayLater
do think, though, that the present lack of mobile and desktop apps is a limitation that would reduce the convenience of this service for a large portion of web workers — fortunately, not for long! This year, in an effort to get a better grip on the ways I generate income, I’ve been looking for a free, simple app that will allow me to track my income easily. I

Presentation of the Self on the Web
Mostly only a few people will see these presentations of ourselves, but some will go, as they say, “viral”, and draw all kinds of unexpected attention. No one can predict how people on the web will react to stories and pictures of individuals, whether by yawning and ignoring, or by obsessing and commenting, but it is clear that the presentation of a person on the web can have a profound impact on their lives. mentioned that I have been, as they say, “active on the web” since the late nineties, and have really enjoyed the social aspects of it since at least 2005, earlier if you count social bookmarking.

Wired Work
This presentation covers my interpretation of wirearchy and is a continuation of my presentation on Net Work: learning to work anew . Wirearchy may be a neologism , but I’ve found it to be a most descriptive term for discussing what happens when you connect everyone via electronic networks. To paraphrase Jon Husband:

  • A Very Different Kind of Sales Presentation - Sales Presentation 2.0?
I hate the fact I just wrote Sales Presentation 2.0, Below I’m sharing a presentation format I’ve been using with Knowledge Plaza . I’ve adopted this presentation style when visiting a client’s site after discussing their aims, ecosystem and aspirations.  I’m not blowing my own trumpet, merely highlighting a successful presentation but hey, it got your attention. It’s based on my original Meet Charlie and Daniel Siddle’s Meet Charlotte follow up.

  • Presentation Backchannel Multitasking
Some great responses to this month's big question New Presenter and Learner Methods and Skills . Or Clive Shepherd's How should presenters address multitasking? simple statement: Multitasking is an illusion – we are simply not capable of doing it. But some caveats to this general rule. Multitasking Doodling and Notetaking are good. Binge Thinking I have learnt to take notes while giving nearly full attention to a presentation. I'm learning a lot from the posts. A few random reactions and a few of the nuggets I've pulled out from the

  • Prezi: Presentations With a Twist
Just about every presentation app works the same way: Whether you rely on Powerpoint, Keynote or another presentation application, you’re sharing a series of slides that progress in a linear fashion. While you can craft beautiful presentations, you’re up against a format that never changes. One web-based application is working on changing that, One Big Page Where a typical presentation is based on individual slides with a set progression, the starting point for a Prezi presentation is one big page.

  • Nonlinear presentation tool
I just discovered this very interesting presentation tool which is being developed in Budapest. ZuiPrezi is a zooming presentation editor which allows you to easily create dynamic and visually structured zooming maps of texts, images, videos, PDFs, and drawings. ZuiPrezi has a very intuitive interface and support for online sharing, and it works really well with tablet PCs. This is a tool I can't wait to delve into -- I have been looking for something like this for a long tim

  • The Value of Visual Thinking
His presentation contains some really great insights into how visuals are useful and how to get yourself thinking visually. His breakdowns (the 4 M’s and 6 steps of getting visuals) are a great summary of the process of creating effective visuals, and he concludes the presentation with a couple of his own examples of process based on some visuals he’s created. If you’re reading this in a Feed Reader you may need to click through David Armano of the Dachis Group , just posted his slide deck from a talk he gave last week at Blogworld 2009 titled “The Value of Visual Thinking in Social Business”.  His

  • Meet a Presenter’s Nightmare (or Friend): The Backchannel
In his new book, “ The Backchannel: How Audiences Are Using Twitter and Social Media and Changing Presentations Forever ,” Cliff Atkinson provides an example of the effect that a Twitter-enabled backchannel (an online conversation between audience members) can have on a presentation. The backchannel can either be a good or bad thing, depending on how the presenter and the audience use it. At last year’s  South by Southwest Interactive festival in Austin, Tex.,  Pam Slim led a panel discussion titled, “From Blog to Book Deal.”
