Replace Your Browser Bookmarks With iCyte
Browser bookmarks left my online research workflow some time ago when I began to use Delicious, with occasional forays into using Xmarks . It’s a new social bookmarking tool that enables you to capture Cytes (web pages) for later reference.
Personally, I find some bookmarking tools’ tagging and organizing interfaces overly complex. The bulk of my research happens online, so I am always on the lookout for tools that will help me better capture, catalog and retrieve data. Lately, I’ve depended on Evernote ’s web clipping tools.

Presentation of the Self on the Web
I have been, as they say, “active on the web” since the late nineties, and have really enjoyed the social aspects of it since at least 2005, earlier if you count social bookmarking. They agreed that, while with a group, when they went to the washroom, their behavior changed with their sense of increased (gender) privacy, and we talked a little about Facebook, and its privacy issues.
I have a strong sense of the differences between the public, private, and deeply private aspects of my life, probably because I have taught young adults at the college and university level all

Diigo Adds More Research and Collaboration Features
When Mike reviewed social bookmarking, research and collaboration service Diigo last year, he liked its simplicity, its connections with other services, and its wealth of features. Since then, the social bookmarking field has continued to mature; witness the recent purchase of Friendfeed by Facebook, and the numerous ways that bookmarks can be shared on social networks. Even MySpace is getting into the act by syncing posts with Twitter !
So how can a lesser-known app like Diigo compete? The latest version of Diigo has just gone live,

New Features Make Sharein Even More Efficient
Sharein , the link sharing service, has responded to bookmarking web app Delicious’ new link sharing features by unleashing a raft of new functionality. Interestingly enough, much of this new functionality involves bookmarking, which is Delicious’ bread and butter. There is now a “My Bookmarks” tab. I guess you could say that is fair play, since link sharing is Sharein’s primary reason for being.

Grouptivity Takes on ShareThis and AddThis
explain to my clients that ShareThis is a “passive broadcaster” of their content, giving their blog and web site visitors handy tools to email posts or articles to others, to easily blog about the content they are reading or to link to the content via any of over 30 social media and networking sites such as Facebook , MySpace , StumbleUpon , Mixx and del.icio.us .
Kumar says that while sharing via bookmarking sites and social networks is important, his company has found that so far 80% of site visitors still opt to share content via email.

Included in the report were technologies related to Enterprise 2.0: See Social Computing Platforms in the chart above, of which Gartner notes the following: “Following the phenomenal success of consumer-oriented social networking sites, such as MySpace and Facebook, companies are examining the role that these sites, or their enterprise-grade equivalents, will play in future collaboration environments.” Last August, Gartner had put social computing platforms right at the cusp of falling into the Trough of Disillusionment.
