A Google Twitter Killer? Not Till Google Mutates
It won't work, period, unless it connects to Facebook and Twitter. That's the rumor (BI via WSJ). The idea is to let Gmail become your portal into status update.
And so far, as I've pointed out before, Google won't do that , at least, not yet, and and certainly not in the way it should be done.

Presentation of the Self on the Web
They agreed that, while with a group, when they went to the washroom, their behavior changed with their sense of increased (gender) privacy, and we talked a little about Facebook, and its privacy issues.
I have been, as they say, “active on the web” since the late nineties, and have really enjoyed the social aspects of it since at least 2005, earlier if you count social bookmarking. I

Facebook Dispatches from Gen Y
A few recent Facebook experiences from the realms of parenting:
Last night I discovered that Facebook now plays a major role in prom planning. Apparently the girls at my daughter's school have a Facebook Group --"Don't Cop My Dress." Facebook For Parents --The aforementioned daughter was caught this weekend drinking at a friend's Don't Cop My Dress! --My My 17 year old daughter's junior prom is about a month away.

Doodle Updates with Power Features, Facebook Integration
Doodle also has added exporting to Outlook, Google Calendar and other iCal-based calendars, and a Facebook app that lets you poll your friends without a separate URL—they don't have to install the app, and non-Facebook-users can still be added. Doodle, the fast, free, and clean poll-maker/event-scheduler we last visited about two years ago, has updated with some helpful power-user features and web hook-ups that make organizing your parties and meetings easy. Is Facebook Really Better Than Twitter For Your Business?
There is no doubt that Facebook is the 900-pound gorilla in the world of social networks. But recently I read a post about Facebook being better than Twitter for business , and I don’t think that’s always true. Granted, I recommend Facebook Pages to my clients, swoon over Facebook’s Social Ads program and am grateful for the information I can gain from Facebook’s Insights. However, the most important things to think about when utilizing social media for business are:
What are your business goals?

Serena is Serene about Enterprise Facebook
I’ve written before about Serena Software’s use of Facebook as their Intranet, as has Bill Ives . Impetus for Facebook as the Intranet
How did you decide to make the apparently radical switch over to Facebook as the Intranet? Our CEO and CMO were already avid Facebook users, Recently, I asked Serena’s Kyle Arteaga and Rene Bonvanie a few more questions about this effort, and was so impressed by their answers that I wanted to share them here. Oosah Hosts up to 1TB of Media Online for Free
In addition to hosting videos, photos, and music you upload directly to the site, Oosah also integrates with Flickr, Picasa Web Albums, Facebook, and YouTube. Web application Oosah hosts a whopping one terabyte (that's 1,024 gigabytes) of media online for free. Once you've connected your accounts, you can actually drag and drop photos between webapps—so, for example, if you uploaded a photo to Oosah that you wanted to add to a Flickr set, you can just drag and drop it onto Flickr in the sidebar.

FaceBook Virgin Airlines Fiasco
There was a fairly major example of how external social networks can spin out of control last week: Virgin Atlantic (which despite its name is a major international airline that flies all over the world) have a FaceBook presence, with 6,944 members as I write this.
Last Last week Virgin got a lot of publicity for firing

Make a Facebook Page for Your Small Business
Facebook has two types of pages. The first is Facebook Pages , which allow public figures, businesses, or brands a space to share information, interact with their fans and create an interactive forum on Facebook. Facebook Pages tend to work better for businesses while Groups do well for non-profits, interests and causes.
The other, Groups , focus less on a person, brand or business and more on a shared interest. Unlike Pages, Groups have a 5000-member limit.
