Facebook - Snatching Defeat From the Jaws of Victory?
What on earth are Facebook doing?
Imagine going into a stationary store and buying a Filofax personal organizer and then over time filling it with personal contacts info, photos and notes.
You come home one night and it’s no longer on the coffee table by the phone, instead there’s a note from Filofax saying there’s a change [...

Streamline Photo Sharing on Multiple Social Networks
It’s very simple to set up, and the results will save you a great deal of time. You’ll be able to send any photo from your mobile device to your Flickr account via email, and it will then automatically send a link to that photo on Twitter and Facebook at the same time, if you choose to do so. To set up Flickr to automatically share photos with your contacts on Facebook and Twitter:
Login to Flickr
Go to your account settings: http://www.flickr.

The Year's Half Over. So How Are My Predictions Tracking?
YouTube is struggling with a model, Google admits. Meanwhile, Facebook seems to have found one (in self service)...
4. Despite #3 above, Google stock will soar in by Q3-4 of 2009, mainly because demand will pick up, and when demand picks up, it's like rain on a field of newly sown wheat.
This is already starting to happen - GOOG has moved from below 300 in March to well over 400 now.... It's now broken 20mm there, and we all know it's way bigger than that. It took a pause last month , and we're all waiting to see what June's numbers look like....

Facebook Dispatches from Gen Y
A few recent Facebook experiences from the realms of parenting:
Don't Cop My Dress! --My 17 year old daughter's junior prom is about a month away. Last night I discovered that Facebook now plays a major role in prom planning. Apparently the girls at my daughter's school have a Facebook Group --"Don't Cop My Dress." Girls upload photos of their dresses to ensure that there are no copycat dresses on prom night.

Serena is Serene about Enterprise Facebook
I’ve written before about Serena Software’s use of Facebook as their Intranet, as has Bill Ives . Recently, I asked Serena’s Kyle Arteaga and Rene Bonvanie a few more questions about this effort, and was so impressed by their answers that I wanted to share them here...?)? How big are you now, and in how many offices?
We are a 27 year old company, and grew out of multiple acquisitions. We now have approx. 850 employees located in 18 countries, with more than 35% working from home.

Doodle Updates with Power Features, Facebook Integration
Doodle, the fast, free, and clean poll-maker/event-scheduler we last visited about two years ago, has updated with some helpful power-user features and web hook-ups that make organizing your parties and meetings easy. A new "Power Doodle" option appears when creating a meeting planner or poll, letting people answer with "If need be," hiding certain poll options from certain respondents, and other tweaks.

FaceBook Virgin Airlines Fiasco
There was a fairly major example of how external social networks can spin out of control last week: Virgin Atlantic (which despite its name is a major international airline that flies all over the world) have a FaceBook presence, with 6,944 members as I write this.
Last week Virgin got a lot of publicity for firing [...

The Inbox, Part Two: Facebook Has An Ambient Awareness Problem
Then I get busy and forget about that "next post" thing, and start posting on other stuff. What I really meant was, "in my next post on this topic."
Hope that clarifies things.
OK. So what was I talking about when I wrote: "Facebook had a "malfunction" today that reset all my email notifications. All of a sudden, I am getting Facebook notifications in my email inbox about all manner of things.
A conspiracist will claim this was on purpose. I'll explain why in the next post"?

Should you update your Facebook status from Twitter?
Flickr, Youtube, Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter are all examples of social tools with community underpinnings.
When these sites were first successful, it was not obvious that their communities were especially divergent, but as time has gone on, each one has become more and more unique.... The most obvious example of this has emerged with Facebook’s new redesign. The interface update has put Status at the center of the experience, and it has put Facebook head to head with Twitter.

Google v. Facebook? What We Learn from Twitter.
Last week I wrote a post in which I opined a bit about Facebook search. In it I wrote:
Facebook is way more than its newsfeed, and its search play is key to proving that value, and extending it....No doubt building Facebook search today is akin to building Google ten years ago - bigger, most likely, in terms of data, algorithmic, and platform challenges.

Facebook Shows "What's On It's Mind" - Twitter
An AP story today about changes coming to the Facebook service is quite interesting:
Facebook: Taking a cue from Twitter in sharing?
The popular online hangout Facebook is revamping its home page and plans other changes so its millions of users can more easily choose the types of information they see.
