Favourite Workplace Learning Blogs
don’t like creating “Top 50″ lists so here are my current favourite sources of information and knowledge about learning, especially for the networked business environment. Social Media in Learning by Jane Hart (UK)
ELSUA ES: Luis Suarez talks about knowledge management, community building, social computing and living in a world without e-mail [a very good thing]. This list is a result of a series of tweets, initiated by Janet Clarey who referred to a Top 50 list of educational technology blogs. Shortly after that, Maria Anderson suggested that

Report: Community Platforms Market Led by Jive Software and Telligent
quot; KickApps and Pluck were also commended, for enabling large Web sites to scale quickly with social features. At the time we thought that a USAToday quote was particularly apt: "Jive Software wants to be the Apple Computer of corporate social networks." Tags: Analysi Forrester released a report today about the 'community platforms' market. They evaluated nine vendors, concluding that Jive Software and Telligent Systems "lead the pack because of their strong administrative and platform features."

Relationships and Identity: Two Sides of the Social Networking Coin
The analysis below is an update to my earlier post . As organizations explore the use of social networking, the enterprise is no longer the only participant in managing identity. An employee’s social network site profile, social graph, and use of other social tools and applications enable them to construct additional identity facets to suit their own needs. This outline forms the baseline of a discussion Alice Wang (Director, Burton Group) and I will lead at a workshop next Monday sponsored by Project Concordia . The workshop session will cover

Largest ever organizational network analysis shows how social networks drive performance
For years now I have been trying to get the message out to senior executives that effective social networks are critical to business performance . The report itself, Value of Social Network -- A Large-Scale Analysis Now researchers from IBM Research and MIT have undertaken the largest study of its kind ever. BusinessWeek writes that Researchers at IBM and MIT have

Predictions for enterprise social software and social network analysis
Gartner has released five interesting predictions for social software . By 2014, social networking services will replace e-mail as the primary vehicle for interpersonal communications for 20 percent of business users.
ve long believed that shifting communication out of email was one of the main ways that social media would be valuable, as for example expressed in my 2005 white paper How Collaborative Technologies are Transforming Financial Services .
Here are the predictions along with a few of my thoughts.
This is a transition that we’ve seen for

2009: Planning Considerations For Enterprise 2.0
Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007 (MOSS) is a disappointing platform for social computing in my opinion. My position for some time has been that the next release will be a tipping point for Microsoft's social computing efforts. Either Microsoft "gets it right" and delivers a forward-looking release with significant improvements that transforms SharePoint into a market-leading social computing platform, or it delivers a release that has only incremental improvements to existing Rather than list off a "top ten" list of predictions for 2009, I thought I would briefly layout some topics and areas that business and IT decision-makers should pay attention to when formulating Enterprise 2.0

Social networks and social networking
I've been doing social network analysis since 2001. With the upswing over the past few years of the social networking sites the language has got a bit blurry. When I do my NetWork workshops, I now need to help people distinguish the basics of "social networks" as distinct from the phenomenon of linking. Mike Gotta, in his Collaborative Thinking blog (which I started reading just a short time ago), provides a great service by summarizing notes on the history of social network analysis. (The The notes are taken from
