The GPS and EPSS
And on a personal note, it’s nice to have the mobile learning manuscript draft put to bed, and be able to get back into blogging and more. It’s not unknown for me to enter my name into a drawing for something, if I don’t mind what they’re doing with it. It’s almost unknown, however, for me to actually win, but that’s actually the case a month or so ago when I put a comment on a blog prior to the MacWorld show, and won a copy of Navigon turn-by-turn navigation software for my iPhone.

LinkedIn Direct Ads .. A Threat to Google?
In addition, using the power of social networking your target populations could learn about you, the advertiser, as a person. Earlier this week upon logging in to my LinkedIn account, I noticed their Direct Ads. While I normally don't get excited about advertising, for some reason, I was curious. I

Predictions 2010
2010 will mark the beginning of the end of US dominance of the web . 2010 will see a major privacy brouhaha , not unlike the AOL search debacle but around social and/or advertising related data. Despite the rise of personalized privacy dashboards for most major sites, there is still no industry standard for how marketing data is leveraged, and there is a brewing war for that data between marketers, their agencies, and third parties like ad networks and measurement companies. Personal Knowledge Management
[This Personal = according to one’s abilities, interests and motivation (not directed by external forces)

Top 10 eLearning Predictions for 2010
Before I start with any of my actual predictions, let me throw in an overall prediction that the year is going to start off slow for most people, but by the end of the year, we will all be thinking: “Wow, 2010 was a crazy year!” When I say that, keep in mind that 90% of what workplace learning is all about will be basically unchanged this year. So, viewer discretion is advised. If you are interested in this, I will be doing a Virtual Presentation – Ten eLearning Predictions for 2010 that will be closely aligned with this post. Also – I’m asking for a bit of help at

personal knowledge management & wisdom
PKM consists of practical methods for making sense of the increasing digital information flows around us. There is no procedural method to go from data to wisdom. On this Stephen Downes and I agree; though he thinks I adhere to the DIKW model.
That said, while this is a much better model than this , I think it stays true

Can You Be Personal and Professional in Social Media?
There have been plenty of blog posts and discussions recently about how you need to be “personal” across the various social media web sites, even when communicating on behalf of your company or brand. So you want to come across as a person talking with people, not at them, unlike the traditional one-way marketing broadcasts of yesteryear.
In this Social media is about conversations, and people have conversations with other people, not faceless corporations. You can actually be professional and personal at the same time in social media without too much effort.

Collaboration Goes Mobile in 2010
It predicts that 2010 will be the year of the smartphone surge.
Some others include: personal contacts (84%), work calendar (83%), IM (48%), emergency response (17%), and team collaboration (12%). Forrester has issued a report, Collaboration Needs Will Fuel A Smartphone Surge , by Ted Schadler with Matthew Brown, Brownlee Thomas, Michele Pelino, and Peter Schmidt, with the subtitle: The Surge Can Be Funded Through A Bring-Your-Own Smartphone Strategy. I appreciate receiving a review copy.

The power of personal brands in strategy and attracting talent
A few months ago I wrote about The shift from corporate brands to personal brands , referencing Jeremiah Owyang's move from Forrester to the newly-founded Altimeter Group with former colleagues.
Now, as personal brands grow in relative strength, corporations need to consider how they can best reflect and tap the influence of the individuals working for them. As Jeremiah notes, This is a long-term secular trend - in fact last week when I spoke at the Online Marketing by Design event I pointed to it as one of the three most important trends for this year.
