Post #e2conf thoughts – installment 4.
What this means:  The forward-thinking ideas in 2005 about personal profiles translated into a tool that by 2007 was not particularly exciting anymore.  The good stuff that you’ll see in 2010 was very forward-thinking in 2007 and 2008 when folks like Venky were creating it.  But will it be as exciting next year (when you first see it) as it was last year?  They are hoping it will.  Let’s touch base in a few months and see.

The speakers pushed the boundaries of what it means to design complex information spaces of all kinds. We can all expand our practice by absorbing their experiences and ideas. In cooperation with the “IA Institute”:http://www.iainstitute.org/, we’re happy to bring you recordings of most conference talks. We hope you enjoy listening to nearly the entire conference via these recordings.

  • 2008 2009
It's always interesting to look back at the past year - 2008, think about what has changed for me during the year, and think about what that means for the next year - 2009. My blog is really the hub of my thinking and activity, so by going back through posts for the 2008, it gives me a pretty good perspective on what's been happening inside my head during 2008. To do my review, I first looked at what I was writing about and what people were reading on my blog in 2008.

  • In Quotes Displays What Politicians Said About a Keyword
Google Labs launches an addictive little webapp called In Quotes, which searches and compares things politicians have said in the news by keyword. So you can see what Obama and McCain have said recently about Iraq, health care, or energy. Hit the "Spin" button to get another quote (with a link to the source news story), or hit the politician drop-down to get quotes from the vice presidential candidates and others, from Hillary Clinton to Ron Paul.

  • My Two Top 2008 Technologies
For a year-end post I’d rather not try to recap the year in technology, or in anything else. Let’s be honest—with the exception of our truly historic presidential election much of the noteworthy news of 2008 was bad to really bad.... My other favorite technology of 2008 helps keep my pendelum from swinging too far in the direction of solitary bookishness.

  • IDEA 2008: An Interview with Bill DeRouchey
As IDEA 2008 draws closer, the IA Institute is conducting a series of interviews with the speakers for the conference. As Event Coordinator for IDEA , I fill a variety of roles, including the Interviewer of IDEA Presenters (which I proudly share with Liz Danzico...." RU: Last question, and this is a doozy: Over the course of 2008, you and I have become “friends”—at least I’d say that, and I believe you’ve said that.

  • NY-Toronto Law Firm KM Summit 2008 in Boston
Doug Cornelius asked me to participate in the NY-Toronto Law Firm KM Summit 2008, which for some reason was held in Boston this year. This is a group of lawyers (primarily) who are very interested in knowledge management in the legal profession. There are a number of my friends from KM circles associated with this group, and it was great to reconnect once again. Unfortunately, I could only stay for the morning. Does Enterprise 2.0 = Knowledge Management 2.0?
