Socializing
Jive, for example, is a collaboration platform designed with a social perspective. Ning is perhaps the largest open (free) platform available to groups of any size or inclination who want to form a community or to collaborate. Andrew McAfee first used the phrase emergent social software platforms in his May 2006 definition of Enterprise 2.0. I recently tweeted an observation of David Weinberger' s on how our language has shifted: Over the past decade, we’ve gone from talking about social circles to social networks. A

Learning Flow: unfrozen
This is a re-publication of an article I wrote that was originally published in April 2006 for ADETA , but is no longer available on their website. A mashup is a website or web application that seamlessly combines content from more than one source into an integrated experience … via a public interface or API” (Mashup, 2006). For instance, now that we have access to people and knowledge, learning is ‘network creation’ and that Not only is e-mail where knowledge goes to die (according to Luis Suarez ) but PDF’s are where entire articles go to die. Considering the subject matter,

Wanted/Needed: UX Design for Collaboration 2.0
No current software supports the full process of collaboration. That’s a bold claim, and I hope that someone can prove me wrong. There is plenty of hype about “Collaboration 2.0” Take, for instance, the Enterprise Collaboration Panel at last year’s Office 2.0 This article is more of a “Working Towards …” position paper than the final word; written in the hope that the ensuing discussion will either bring to light some software of which I’m not aware, or motivate the right people to develop what’s needed. rdquo; at

Project Management, Collaboration, and How Our Brains Work
I’ve been struggling with the learning curves inherent in adapting new project management and collaboration tools for my own company and have previously blogged about the way my own brain processes information - and a GUI - quite differently from that of my company’s project manager.
The more I explore project management and collaboration options, the more clearly I see that I gravitate toward either the simpler ( Basecamp ) or the more visual ( 5pm ). I have a very hard time with linear ( Wrike ) although I do like Wrike’s reminder lists a lot.

Recommended reading for Next Generation KM, Collaboration and Intranet 2.0
related to the Next Generation Knowledge Management, Collaboration and Intranet 2.0. 2002, 'Collaborative Infrastructure Formation in Virtual Projects' , Journal of Global Information Technology Management, Vol. 2006, 'Enterprise 2.0: The Dawn of Emergent Collaboration' This following is a combined list of recommended reading ( in addition to mine own work !) This is by no means intended to be a definitive list, instead it is based on reading lists I've handed out over the last four years or so at conferences: Bartlett-Bragg, A.,

How I use social media
Then it was Azerbaijan, Georgia (the country), Armenia, Kenya, South Africa, Indonesia, Columbia, Ghana, Ethiopia, and a multitude of international NGOs based in Europe and North America who gave me the opportunity to apply online interaction and collaboration practices in the field of international development.
From this transparency, this “showing my work” in public I have gained new collaborators and clients. This afternoon I’m spending a half hour on a Skype video conversation to share a bit of how I use social media. I
